About Dr. Curtin
I am a qualified doctor with 19 years experience in General Practice. I have a special interest in complementary medicine.
My initial medical training was at Sheffield University Medical School, and I qualified as a Doctor in 1984. I then went on to do Vocational Training and became a full time NHS GP in 1989.
Two years later I started to become interested in Acupuncture and after a prolonged period of study I obtained a Diploma in Acupuncture from the British Medical Acupuncture Society (BMAS). My understanding of acupuncture was deepened by two extended trips to Japan where I was able to spend time sitting in and observing Acupuncture Masters at work.
Four years ago, I began to develop a special interest in the treatment of INFERTILITY. I am currently involved in a research programme, looking at the latest techniques for treating women with fertility problems using Acupuncture. Women who are undergoing assisted conception programmes such as IVF and IUI can often be helped with Acupuncture.
As a practising doctor, I believe that acupuncture does not take the place of orthodox medicine, but that it can work alongside it.
